Flat Pack Hat /

This was a materials and process driven project. I am very interested in the possibilities that plywood offers, as i see it as a material with fery few boundaries in terms of producing a form. With this in mind i was keen to explore how i could mimic in plywood the forms that are traditionally made from from paper or card.
The classic spiral hat was the example of this which i felt could be best applied to the material. Using a laser cutter I cut the familiar shape and markings into the plywood. The result of this was simple, a flat wooden pannel which can be bent to form a hat.
